Sanitation Business Model – Water for People
I-DEV was engaged by Water for People to review its business strategy in Malawi to help design scalable business-based solutions to per-urban sanitation in Blantyre. I-DEV conducted a series of field visits and focus groups with target consumers, and led several workshops with local entrepreneurs to identify 3 potential business models to provide access to improved latrine solutions . I-DEV developed 3 potential approaches for local entrepreneurs and Water for People Malawi to implement that would offer latrine construction, latrine improvements and latrine emptying services. These models were designed to create new jobs and better peri-urban sanitary conditions while offering consumer services at affordable prices.
