Ghana Clean Cooking Investments Analysis – Global Alliance for Clean Cookstoves (GACC)
The Global Alliance for Clean Cookstoves (GACC) is a U.N.-sponsored public-private initiative that seeks to save lives, empower women, and protect the environment by creating a thriving global marketplace for clean and efficient household cooking solutions.
I-DEV was hired by the GACC to advise on its investment strategy in Ghana with a focus on use of capital that would strengthen the business ecosystem for clean cooking and eco-fuel products in Ghana. Scope of work included site visits with 6 GACC membership companies and review of a previous GACC investee to understand best practices and lessons learned. The result was a recommendations report on investment into Ghana-based enterprises in order to catalyze the local sector, as well as lessons learned on how to most effectively collaborate with past grantees and provide necessary support.
